With bag and baggage and eight people from the Airpole flight school, Corinne and I fled the autumn fog to sun: The French island La Réunion promised 27 degrees in November and ideal conditions for paragliding! The two bungalows in Piton Saint-Leu had been organized by Corinne and Denise. Töni was responsible for weather and local knowledge, after all we had come along not least because of his stories and pictures from last year.
The journey was rather arduous: By plane from Zurich to Paris-Charles de Gaulle, 5 hours layover during which the airport staff went on strike or demonstrated loudly, then another 11 hours flight to La Réunion. And during each flight I was trembling for my paraglider - if it would get lost halfway, this would be the end of my flying vacations... But all went well and the weather actually welcomed us kindly. We picked up our rental bus and Ivo his rental car and headed south to our bungalows in Saint Leu.
On the way we discovered that practically all the hill crests on the west side of the island had fallen victim to a partly still burning bush fire. Töni guessed correctly that we would probably not be able to use the Mido launch site. Fortunately, however, the lower launch site was not affected. We made a stop at the landing site which was directly at the sea. Töni had not promised too much. We were all looking forward to the first flights. But first we checked into the bungalows. These were not so easy to find. But we have vacations and time does not matter.
With our 4 person bungalow we have hit the black. Small but nice with balcony towards the sea. For this, the 6 person bungalow had a lovely shady garden. For dinner we met (as later still often) in the Sarah Beach.
